“Workers’ self-management” is a form of company organisation in which workers - rather than private owners or state-appointed managers - collectively manage enterprises (e.g. take decisions on wages, investment, and workplace organisation), typically through elected workers’ councils. This was the predominant form of company organisation in Socialist Yugoslavia, and worker-managed enterprises (such as Mondragon Corporation or Suma Wholefoods) are present in Western market economies today.
